GEORGEAN "BECKA" KOUVELIS 93, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on January 30, 1932, in Dallas, Texas to Chris and Ida Brunell. Becka graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Southern Methodist University. She married Chris Pete Kouvelis, the love of her life, in Dallas on November 8, 1953 and they raised 5 children in San Angelo, Texas. In 1994, Chris retired, and he and Becka moved to Dallas, where they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2013 before Chris passed away in 2014. Becka is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Venetia Ivy Haby and her sister, Lilly Fotopoulos. She will be remembered by her loving family; sons, Peter Kouvelis and his wife, Hilda, and Chris Kouvelis, Jr.; daughters, Kandi and her husband, Hayden Haby, Jr., Melissa and her husband, Paul Athens, and Kimberly and her husband, Edward LaScala. She is also survived by beloved grandchildren and cherished great-grandchildren, Paul Athens, Jr, Hayden Griffin Haby, III and his wife, Georgea and their children Hayden, Eleni, Christopher and Penelope; Amanda Kaim and her husband, Gabriel and their children James, Jordan and Jonathan; Chris Athens and his wife, Brenna and their children, Elizabeth, Caroline and Easton; Samantha Amador and her husband Shaun and their children Emma and Jacob; Edward LaScala III and his wife Tinsley and their children Edward IV and Jonathan; Nicholas LaScala, Luke LaScala, Penelope LaScala and Chris Kouvelis, III. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Vlamides and sister-in-law, Connie Zotos, as well as many nieces and nephews. Becka was well-loved, welcoming others with her bright smile and personality. Her greatest joy was her family-being a wonderful wife, mother, zsa-zsa, gaga, sister, aunt and friend. She was musically talented and loved to travel the world with family and friends. Becka was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in San Angelo. There will be a Trisagion service on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 6:00 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75240. Visitation will take place at 10:30 am, Monday, May 12, 2025, with the Funeral Service to follow immediately at 11:00 am, also at Holy Trinity. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the charity of choice or Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church are appreciated. May her memory be Eternal!
