Ronald Edward Crouch March 3, 1948 – May 20, 2026 Ronald Edward Crouch, beloved Dallas hairstylist, colorist, and larger-than-life personality, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Pampa, Texas,
Ron graduated from Borger High School before attending the University of Oklahoma. His talent for hairstyling revealed itself early. While still in junior high, he was already bleaching and dyeing his sisters’ hair long before earning his cosmetology license at just 16 years old in 1964. He would go on to work continuously in the beauty industry until his retirement in 2020, spanning more than five decades.
Ron began his career at Mr. Jack’s at the Quadrangle in Dallas before going on to own and operate salons at Lovers Lane and the Dallas North Tollway and at Travis Walk, and becoming part of Marshall Edward Salon in Snyder Plaza. He also worked at Stanley Korshak Salon and later Bolivar Salon. During his years at Stanley Korshak, he was recognized by Glamour magazine as one of Dallas’ best colorists. Over the years, he also trained and mentored many assistants who later became prominent stylists themselves.
Ron was known for his legendary sense of humor, razor-sharp wit, impeccable taste, signature tan, and classic preppy style. He created far more than hairstyles. He created atmosphere. For years, his salon chair was one of the most sought-after in Dallas. Saturday afternoons often found the women of University Park, Highland Park, and Preston Hollow gathered around his station, waiting their turn in whatever chair they could find. His salon was never simply a salon. It was a social world filled with glamour, laughter, storytelling, beauty, and conversation.
Though known for the glamour he created and his gift for conversation, Ron’s deepest loyalty was to his family. He opened both his home and his heart generously throughout his life, and despite a demanding career, he always made time for the people he loved most.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Marchetta Lee Richardson Hammett and Robert Edgar Crouch; his sister, Vickie Sue Crouch; and brother-in-law Steve Turner. He is survived by his brother, Marc Hammett and wife Natalie; sister Carrol Turner; nieces Jennifer Del Cid and Julee Kolpin; nephew John Stacha-Hammett; grandnieces Grete Kolpin, Sophie Rivas, Celia Rivas, and Cora Rivas; and grandnephew Lennon Kolpin.
