Debra Espinosa Rodriguez was born on November 15, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, and from the moment she entered the world, she was a force of love, kindness, and joy. Raised with a strong Catholic faith, she graduated from Bishop Dunn High School, where her devotion to family, faith, and love began to take root.
Debra's life was truly a love story. On October 15, 1994, she was introduced to Victor by a dear friend who thought her cousin was perfect for her. Their first meeting at the iconic Adair's in Dallas was nothing short of magical. They spoke for hours, lost in conversation, discovering how perfectly they fit together. Their connection was immediate and undeniable. They were never apart after they met. Within weeks, Victor knew she was the one. He asked her to marry him, but Debra, ever the romantic, told him he needed a ring first. And so, he went out and bought one, a symbol of their deep bond.
Once she received the ring, Debra, with her practical yet adventurous spirit, suggested they get a marriage license right away. Victor, thinking they had a full year to make it official, was caught off guard. But the marriage license they applied for was only valid for 30 days, and when they realized they had just a month to act, Debra wasted no time. She said, "Why wait?" and, on December 31, 1994, they tied the knot. It was a spontaneous, beautiful decision that reflected Debra's bold, loving heart.
Victor and Debra's love for one another grew stronger with each passing day. One of the things that meant the most to Debra was how Victor embraced her son, Adam Joshua Gomez, as his own. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming their children, Victor Rodriguez Jr. and Victoria Rodriguez, into their lives. As a mother, Debra was loving, nurturing, and always full of joy. She celebrated life's milestones, and the anniversary of the day she and Victor met was always marked with roses-one for each year they had been together-until Victor decided that 24 roses, the number of years they had shared, were more than enough.
Debra had a vivacious spirit. She was happy, outgoing, and bold, always ready to share her laughter with anyone around her. She had a deep love for Christmas, ensuring that the holiday season was filled with warmth and joy. Her love for her family and for life shone brightly. As a devoted fan of the 49ers, a lover of Journey and rock music, and a passionate traveler, Debra's heart was always full. She cherished her trips to Rome, England, and Italy, and her soul resonated with the beauty and history of the places she visited.
Her Catholic faith was the center of her life. Devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the rosary, Debra's faith carried her through life's greatest challenges. She also had a love for singing, cooking, and sharing her culinary creations with those she loved. Known for her famous tortillas and rice, Debra's kitchen was always a place of warmth, filled with the aromas of family meals. She loved to watch cooking shows, especially Lydia on Channel 13, and was always eager to try new recipes. Along with a love for good food, Debra had a sweet tooth, particularly for Crunch Bars, Red Hots, Ferrero Rochers, and anything chocolate. She also had a fondness for margaritas and Fireball, which only added to her vibrant personality.
Debra found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including indulging in soap operas like The Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless, and detective shows like NCIS. She embraced the moments that brought her happiness, and those moments were made all the more special by her loving family.
In June of 2023, Debra's world was turned upside down by the loss of her beloved son, Adam. The grief was profound, and yet Debra's strength remained. Victor, Victoria, and the love and support of her family helped her navigate the depths of her sorrow. Though the pain was overwhelming, Debra never lost her ability to love and care for those around her.
Debra leaves behind her loving husband, Victor Rodriguez, and their children, Victor Rodriguez Jr. and Victoria Rodriguez. She is now reunited with her son, Adam, in heaven.
The loss of Debra is a devastating one. Her family is heartbroken, and the world is a little dimmer without her light. Her legacy of love, joy, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Debra's life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to share their favorite stories and memories of her. A Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Debra may no longer be with us physically, but her spirit lives on in every laugh, every hug, and every cherished memory she leaves behind. She will forever be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the joy she brought to all who knew her, and the unshakable faith that guided her through every season of life.
Rest in peace, Debra. You were truly loved beyond measure.
