Dorothy Louise Blackwell, born on August 9, 1936, in Ben Wheeler, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, in Josephine, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
A lifelong faithful Christian, Dorothy was a cherished member of Royal Haven Baptist Church. Throughout her years, she brought joy to many as a singer in the choir and as a dedicated volunteer in the Mothers Day Out program. Known for her vibrant spirit, Dorothy was described as feisty and lively, always ready with a smile and a kind word.
In addition to her devotion to her faith, Dorothy had a passion for sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces for her family and friends. However, her greatest love was for her family; she cherished every moment spent with her daughter Paula Blackwell, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her two children, Paula McKinnon and her husband Kevin, and Steve Blackwell and his wife Lisa; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; along with her four siblings, Donald, Brabara, Sandra, and Carolyn.
The family will hold a graveside service in her honor at Crown Hill Memorial Park on April 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The family asks that all attendees where pink in honor of Dorothy. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Hughes Family Tribute Center on April 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Dorothy Louise Blackwell will be deeply missed by all who knew her but will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
