Elizabeth (Liz/Lizzie) Hanson MacLennan, 75, of Denton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday February 11th, 2025 with her daughter by her side. She was an exceptional mom, wife, sister, Mimi and friend.
Liz was born in Dallas, Texas to William (Bill) and Kathryn Hanson on October 26th, 1949. She grew up the typical littler sister to Sharon, who had to drag her around everywhere with her and spent a lifetime buying two of everything. She grew up with a love of books, playing games, and family. Lizzie never knew a stranger and never turned down an adventure. From fishing and swimming to zip lining and hot air balloons, there was nothing she wouldn’t try. With all of these, she met people that would become lifelong friends. As an adult, she would act in community plays, learn to quilt and spend countless hours laughing with friends.
In 1977, she had 1 daughter, Kimberly, who she loved more than life. Liz spent 47 years being the best mom she knew how to be. She traveled the state for every game, every tournament, every dinner. She made sure there was always a reason to celebrate. At times, she worked 2 jobs, but was still at all the after school functions and parent get togethers. Her creative nature helped make signs, buttons, and fans. Her favorite times were spent with other moms, having a beer or pina colada, laughing at the girls. She was everyone’s “other mother.”
She married Jack in 1990. They went everywhere together and were the perfect balance to each other. They enjoyed movies, and traveling, food and family. He was there for every appointment, every tear, and every laugh.
So many adventures and stories to make up a wonderful life. She left us all with a strong will, a fierce heart, and a love of life. She is survived by her husband Jack, sister Sharon, daughter Kimberly (Ott) and her spouse Ryan, and her only grandchild Carter. She leaves behind her lifelong friend Dottie, The Bailey Family of Louisiana, her Holley Lake friends, and many friends along the way that she touched with her infectious spirit.
