John A. Velez (Johnny) passed peacefully on January 27, 2025 in Plano, Texas.

John was born in Dallas, Texas on March the 4th to Juanita and Larry Sr. Velez.

Johnny attended the Arts Magnet School but graduated from Skyline High School and Eastfield College. He was a talented musician. He loved playing the trumpet. He marched with the Skyline Raiders band as well as played in their Jazz and orchestra band. He maintained 1st & 2nd chair throughout high school.

He played tennis and gave tennis lessons at Samuel Grand Recreation Center and Lakewood Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Larry Sr. Velez and his older brother Arthur H. Velez.

He was survived by his sons Alec S. Velez and Wyatt Velez, who Johnny loved very much! Also, brothers Larry Velez III, Michael H. Velez, two sisters Liz Aguirre and Gina F. Velez-Lopez, former Spouse Cindy Hood, nephew Joe Chris Herrera along with other nephews, nieces, cousins from Terre Haute&Lafayetter, Indiana, Washington DC, New York, Long Beach Calif. San Antonio and Haslett, numerous other cousins, two Aunts' Aunt Mary Hurtado and Aunt Elisa Camacho, friends and a sincere devoted partner and companion Rebecca Brashear.
