Lyle R. Wilson, a passionate sports enthusiast and kind-hearted soul, passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on October 6, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, he lived a life filled with laughter, love, and dedication to his family and friends.
Lyle had a great love for baseball and volleyball, playing at least three times a week, and was known to have three TVs in his living room to ensure he never missed a game. He had a gentle spirit, never speaking ill of others, and enjoyed playing word games like Scrabble and watching game shows like Wheel of Fortune.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, earning several military honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Marksman Medal (Rifle), and the Good Conduct Medal. After transitioning to the reserves until 1961, he dedicated many years of service to Exxon before retiring. Throughout his life, Lyle was a beacon of support and strength for everyone around him, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him. His legacy of commitment and kindness will be remembered fondly.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Gina Romo, son-in-law, Luther Romo, significant other Liz Judd, and granddaughter Danielle Tillman and her husband Austin Tillman. He is survived by his two sons, Lyle Richard Wilson Jr. and William Douglas Wilson. Lyle was a long standing member of the Widowed Person Support Group, providing comfort and camaraderie to those who needed it most.
A celebration of Lyle's life will be held in the near future, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and cherish the legacy of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness and generosity. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held at Hughes Family Tribute Center located at 9700 Webb Chapel Rd, Dallas, TX 75220 on November 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Following this, burial services will take place at Crown Hill Memorial Park at noon, with an honorable flag dedication service at the graveside, honoring his dedication to his country.
