She was a graduate of North Dallas High School, where she was a member of the Red Cross, Pep Club, and was on the A & B Honor Roll.
Sandra enjoyed working with her hands. She was employed by Levolar Blind Company for several years, where she made many lifelong friends. Later, as an accomplished seamstress and craftsperson, Sandra enjoyed and excelled at creating valuable custom lamp shades at Cele Johnson Custom Lamps. She worked there until she retired due to her thirty-one-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Though single at the time of her death, she met and married Ira Lee Finney Jr. while worshiping and serving at Greenway Park C.O.G.I.C. They welcomed two sons, Fabian Demond Finney (born in 1975) and John Wesley Finney, III (born in 1983).
Sandra accepted the Lord at an early age. She served the Lord at Greenway Park C.O.G.I.C. as Church Secretary, Soloist, and Praise Dancer. Her final role was supporting her son and Pastor, Rev. Fabian Demond Finney, as a faithful member and as his mother. During the final stages of her sickness when she was unable to attend Church services due to her disability, she would patiently wait for her son to arrive at home. When he walked into her room, she would smile and excitedly ask: “How was Church?”
