We are legally required to file the death certificate with the State of Texas, which requires the purchase of at least one certified copy. Families can obtain additional certified copies of the death certificate either through us at the time we file the death certificate or on their own from the county bureau of vital statistics. If the family obtains them directly, the county will charge $21 again for the first one and $4 for each additional one.
