With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of George Mahfouz Habash, who departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 18, 1941, in Jerusalem, Palestine, George was a man of unwavering spirit, boundless warmth, and a deep devotion to his family, friends, and community.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary, and their cherished children, Nidal, Gina, and Sami. A devoted husband, nurturing father, and a guiding light to all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and purpose that will endure for generations.
A Life of Joy, Passion, and Advocacy
George had a rare gift for turning every moment into a celebration. Whether holding a microphone and singing and dancing with boundless joy or captivating a room with his contagious smile, his presence was a source of warmth and happiness. His love for Arabic poetry was Incredible-his ability to recite intricate and beautiful verses from memory left those around him in awe, a testament to his sharp mind and passionate soul.
Beyond his love for music and poetry, George was a steadfast advocate for Palestinian freedom, never hesitating to raise his voice for justice and inspire others with his conviction. His words carried wisdom, hope, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on all who listened.
To his beloved Mary, he was a devoted and playful partner, always ready with a lighthearted tease, followed by laughter and affection. As a father, he was a masterful storyteller, filling his children's lives with tales of adventure, resilience, and the importance of living with passion and purpose.
It is impossible to sum up someone 83 years of existence in few words but he lived with the credence "Smile to the world, and the world will smile back" which he imparted on all who knew him.
Today, we honor his legacy by smiling through our tears, grateful for the beautiful memories and the love he shared so generously.
